Readers of The Observer will appreciate that planning matters are often complicated and more involved than can concisely be explained in a brief article.

The project did in fact receive full planning permission in 2014 when the case officer was very positively in favour of what was proposed, and the structure now in place was substantially completed well before the present debacle.

The application is now at appeal because I have been asked to remove a complete storey even though the original house and the original approval was three storey.

HBC are not taking enforcement action against the build.

I did not say that the council were being confrontational but that the planning system places both applicant and the planning authority in that position whereas dialogue is always the best way to reach agreement.
