Library optimism
IN November last year, I viewed with apprehension the idea of Littlehampton Library staff being replaced by machines.
At that time, too, the library was asking its clientele to donate books for its shelves. I gave them three copies of my book “Oil in Persia”, hot off the press, which tells of events more than 50 years ago, and yet oil in Iran continues to make today’s headlines. I was pleased to read the lively and optimistic article (Gazette, January 19), concerning the library change to self-service.
I started the Saturday morning readings for children in the 1970s when I was involved with Nial Booker-Hill’s Littlehampton Youth Theatre and I am happy to understand that the Saturday morning readings are continuing.
