It is well over 100 years old and the most historic one in Horsham that sold good home cooked English food.

They also sold scones and cakes and it was not expensive, and you could also have a coffee and a scone. It would be a shame if it was modernised, with the old oak beams and the horsebrass it was part of the English tradition.

I have been going there since 1941 when two sisters had it.

We have a lot of friends from all over the country who come down. They always say ‘Let’s go to the Merrythought and buy cakes to take back after lunch’.

Do we need another restaurant serving foreign food in Horsham?
