LETTER: Defector was in charge of finance
I read councillor Arthur’s recent letter on HDC finances with great interest. However, I do not recall the questions he asked at the last council meeting were in such detail, or that he was curtailed by the chairman.
I would point out that until about two years ago, and before his defection to UKIP, Roger Arthur was actually deputy leader and responsible mainly for finance. So the Business Transformation Project was really mainly down to him.
Therefore he cannot be absolved from some, or even most of the responsibility. I see no reason, in this case, why he should complain about transparency and democracy.
