I want a refund on my old cycling fine in Alexandra Park!

I am intrigued to read that once again cycling in Alexandra Park is being considered. I await the decision with interest simply because, as a young boy back in the 1950s, I got my very first brand new bike and that day I rode it through Alexandra Park with a friend not realising that cycling was banned.

Consequently we had our collars felt by the park warden (Parky... among other names we called him) and a police officer who took our names and addresses and in due course we were summoned to attend the juvenile court where we were fined 10 shillings and a dire warning not to repeat our wicked actions.

My mother was mortified and ashamed of her feckless son ... and what would the neighbours think? Both our fathers had to take day off work to accompany us as we shamefacedly coughed up our ten bob. So, when riding bikes through the park becomes official I’d like a refund please.
