Does Littlehampton need a sledgehammer to crack a nut?

ARE things so bad in Littlehampton that Arun District Council wishes to introduce the parking Gestapo to our town?

Will motorists have to worry every time they stop for money at the cash machine or to buy a paper? Do we want to drive visitors away?

A visitor from, say, London will spend, say, 30 on petrol plus more than 6 parking, plus food and ice creams '“ not much change from 50.

With the threat of being fined if you park illegally, it will do our tourist industry no good at all.

The question is, do we need a sledgehammer to crack a nut? I think not.

Prospective visitors may find that either Selsey or Seaford, whilst not having sandy beaches, have hundreds of free parking places and no yellow lines, and will be better places to go.
