LETTER: Sad to announce retirement

It is with some regret that I am announcing my retirement from Coopers Vets, on the Ridge, at the beginning of January, after starting the practice 37 years ago.

Leaving such a wonderful practice has not been an easy decision, but old age, and deteriorating knees means that it is time to hand over to a more youthful team to look after the pets entrusted to the practice.

The timing of my departure needed to coincide with a great team to carry on the practice as it has always strived to be – the best.

I am pleased to say that Lindsay Sissons will be taking over from me as clinical director, and she will be supported by the veterinary team of Kat, Lizzie, Clover and Katie, plus all the nurses and receptionists already known to many of you.

Bridget will remain as the practice manager, keeping everything running smoothly from the back office.

It has been a real privilege to be trusted to look after so many much loved family pets, and also the horses up until a few years ago. I have enjoyed every minute, and am proud to be considered as a friend by many of my clients.

My time in retirement will be spent travelling, sailing more often than work currently allows, and also training other vets around the country in Veterinary Dentistry, which is a special interest of mine.

I wish everyone well in the future, and hope that all your pets have a healthy and long life.

With best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
