Plenty of chances to give back to the community

OPPORTUNITIES for wanna-be volunteers across the Gazette area have opened up this week.

Volunteer Now! has announced its latest avail-abilities for those who want to give back to the community.

This week, Patient Link is appealing for drivers to help transport patients from Willow Green Surgery, in Station Road, Rustington, to surgery, hospital, clinics and health centre appointments.

Angmering Youth Forum is looking for a driving force of a different kind this week. The centre, which is based in a converted double-decker bus, provides a welcome space for young people to relax, unwind and stay in a safe environment. The group is now looking for a new helper to assist on the bus.

They would welcome young people who are striving to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh Awards and anyone who knows how to set up technology such as Wii and Xbox.

Elsewhere, the Parent Partnership Service, which provides advice and guidance to parents and carers of children who have special educational need, is looking for a new volunteer to become an independent parental supporter.

The role would see the applicant helping parents write letters and reports, together with supporting them at meetings.

Finally, the last voluntary opportunity available this week is with young people’s disability group, Enable Me, based in Littlehampton.

The charity runs a youth club in the town and is looking for a new assistant to keep the club running smoothly. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate, enthusiastic, self-motivated with a hands-on approach to assist at their youth club on a Monday and Thursday.

Anyone who thinks they can help in any of these roles is now being urged to volunteer by calling 01243 864220 or emailing [email protected]
