The long Bank Holiday weekend is starting to fade into a distant memory, and now that the kids are back at school life at Chestnut Tree is calming down again.

Every year we receive hundreds of Easter eggs, which are kindly donated to us by supporters and local businesses, and this year was no different.

Within East Sussex, Scrumptious Sweeties and Halifax in Peacehaven collected eggs and craft materials which they delivered to the house just before Easter.

Unfortunately not all of the children we care for are able to eat chocolate because of their complex medical conditions, but we always have Easter Egg hunts for those who can eat chocolate, and of course there are many other Easter-themed games and activities for all the children to have fun with. We can also use the eggs and other donated items for fundraising – as raffle or tombola prizes for example – and really appreciate it when our supporters allow us to use donated items in this way.

Of course, it is fundraising that helps us pay the nurses’ wages and pay our utility bills, and we are really grateful to all of our supporters who are running Easter-themed events in aid of us. For example, Lime Cross nursery at Herstmonceux and diddi dance in Eastbourne, Uckfield and Hastings held Easter raffles for us and we were lucky enough to have been chosen as one of the charities collecting donations at Plumpton race courses family Easter weekend.
