Open day is success for group

Those at the open day held by the fledgling Arun West U3A could see the many skills and interests the new branch of the University of the Third Age is likely to offer.

Spokesman Chris Cooper said: “The creative side of U3A was brilliantly exemplified by Hal Brooks’ exhbition of art work, a recorder group performance and displays of craft for charity and digital photography.

“Reading and language groups attracted great interest to the extent that requests were made to establish additional groups.

“Physical activities – keepfit, cycling and table tennis – were also featured and appreciated by many.”

The open day at Yapton Village Hall last week came ahead of the formal creation of Arun West U3A in March.

It will cover Middleton, Elmer, Yapton, Climping and Ford and extend to Barnham, Eastergate and Walberton.

The U3A is open to those not in full-time work. The new branch is being formed from the existing Arun U3A.
