Fire fighters at Bohemia Road station broke away from their open day to deal with a fire behind the Pig In Paradise on the seafront.
They had barely started their RTA demonstration for visitors when the call came in just after midday meaning three appliances and an aerial ladder platform had to leave immediately in response.
“There was a lot of rubbish accumulated at the rear of the property and someone had set light to it,” said Green Watch manager Doug Marshall. “There was a lot of smoke so it looked as though the building was on fire. The smoke was put out with two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet.”
Having coped with the emergency the crews returned to the station and resumed their open day community activities.
