Olympic family day receives £300 boost

AN OLYMPIC celebration at William Parker Sports College has received a welcome £300 boost.

The money was donated by Sussex Police which is generated by selling property that has been confiscated by courts under the Police Property Act Fund.

It will go towards the Olympic Day Family Celebration at the college on July 26.

The event is the culmination of Olympic-themed activities supported by AmicusHorizon, Orbit South and Active Street Games.

The project aims to give 150 local young people the opportunity to take part in free sports-based activities at various locations across Hastings and St Leonards during the school holidays.

Zoe Jackson, senior community worker for housing association AmicusHorizon, said: “This is an excellent case of partnership working. The project will enable families and young people from Hastings and Rother to gain access to sporting opportunities.” The celebration runs from 11am to 3pm.
