Our first bit of news is that we now have a defibrillator which will be available for public use outside the Spar shop. Obviously we hope that it will never be needed, but it’s a valuable asset in the village, and I understand that there will be some classes available on what to do in an emergency in the near future. Meanwhile, there are easy instructions on the box, and we might just save a life.

The monthly Village Coffee Morning will be held today (Friday) in the Village Hall 9.30am – 12 noon, with varied stalls.

The Pay and Play sessions continue in the Pretious Sports Hall 7-9pm on Fridyas, and 6.45pm – 7.45pm on Wednesdays. The first session is free, and then just £2 per hour. The hall will be set up for badminton and table-tennis, with all equipment provided. These are open sessions where the sports hall is open to the community outside normal club times. There is no coaching provided, although a sports hall officer will be on site to help.

Dance Club meets in the Village Hall for sequence dancing at 7.30pm on Friday.

Jempsons at Peasmarsh will be holding a collection in aid of Family Support Work on Saturday, so your support will be very welcome.

No point in travelling miles to enjoy a walk, when our own area offers so much! Join the Footpath Group on Sunday, when they will walk a circular route of local paths, covering 5 miles, leaving the surgery car park at 2pm. If you are new to the area, this is an excellent opportunity to be introduced to paths around the village. You may also be interested in the walks leaflets which are on sale in the Post ffice.

Thursday Seniors Club will be holding a quiz this week.

Everyone is working hard to make sure the Summer Fair goes with a bang – the WI are checking their tents and their urns (and baking, of course), the Village Hall are drawing up all the plans and planning to shift mountains of furniture, the Bonfire Society are assembling fiendish games and a scrumptious barbecue and all the clubs and societies are making displays and sales tables. Please make a note to be on the Playing Fields on Saturday 10th August for a great village day out.

Services (28th): 8am Holy Communion, 10.30am Morning Praise.
