Ninfield Bowls Club have been in action again this last week with three games, two of which were league games. They played Gullivers (league game) on July 17, winning 65-45. It was another win on July 20 against Northiam (league game) with a score of 71-60. Finally, Ninfield played Beckley on July 21, loosing 58-66.

Local Mum, Lorna Tomasetti, has been training hard to participate in Ride London 100 on Sunday, August 4. This is a new race billed as the London Marathon for bikes, which is hoped to be a legacy to the Olympic Games. Her challenge is to complete a 100 mile route around London (including the Surrey hills) in under 9 hours. She has taken up this challenge to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, as her youngest son has had a number of operations there. Hooe’s Old Motor Club is holding their 44th annual Car Show on the Hooe Recreation Ground (situated between Pevensey and Ninfield on the B2095) on Sunday August 4, from 11am to 5pm. There are classes for cars from the turn of last century until 1970. Informed commentary is provided in the main ring on the various vehicles together with the prestigious “lady and car” competition in which ladies dress to match the age and spirit of the car. There will be a plethora of stalls, not all motoring related, refreshments and a musical entertainment provided by The Hooe Silver Band. With plenty going on it makes for a great day out. Admission, which includes a programme, is £5 for adults (Children under 16 free). Car parking in the new improved car park is free. Money raised is distributed amongst local charities. Hooe Open Group meet on Friday, August 9, which will be at Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne. The members will take a 40 minute round the harbour trip on the “African Queen”. This will be followed by a Danish pastry tea at the nearby Simply Italian cafe. If you are interested in joining a group of very friendly ladies, why not drop in at Hooe Village Hall at 2.30pm on the second Friday of the month (Except August) or call Edna Wallis on 01424 842591.

Ninfield Flower Group are holding a flower festival entitled “A Festival of Festivals”, August 24 - August 26. The festival will be held at Ninfield memorial Hall, 10.30am-5pm daily. Entry is £2/person with proceeds going towards The Sara Lee Trust along with a donation going to the Memorial Hall. There will be refreshments, a raffle, tombola, plant stall, crafts and other items. The group look forward to welcoming you.
