NEW POLICE CHIEF

THE new Sussex Police chief inspector in charge of Lewes district, which includes Seaford, knows his way around the block.

Newhaven-based Neil Moscrop, with 28 years' police experience, was inspector in charge at Lewes from 1999 to 2002 before moving to Gatwick.

He then took over at police headquarters in Lewes as chief inspector in charge of specialist operations, including the use of police dogs, the force helicopter and major public order matters.

Said Chief Inspector Moscrop, who took up his new duties in September: 'I'm delighted to be here and I intend to keep things the way they are, making sure crime stays down and continues to do so.

'Burglary is thankfully down but we have no intention of taking that for granted.

'Nationally and locally, anti-social behaviour is a problem and there is lots of work to be done in that department.

'Lewes district is a relatively safe area in which to live and we want people to understand that they should not be disturbed by occasional events that can be taken out of context with the general situation.'
