New, larger venue for popular art exhibition

More than 400 paintings by 150 artists will be on display at this year's Bognor Regis Rotary Club art exhibition.

The demand for spaces at the Observer-backed event has led the organisers to find a new and larger venue.

They have chosen the Gordon Centre for the occasion for the well-established display.

Its location in Canada Grove opposite the Queensway, is regarded by them as ideal because it is in the town centre and big enough to cope with the demand.

A new date '“ between August 23 and 26 '“ has also been set for the exhibition.

Right in the middle of the peak tourist season, the timing is sure to lead to many of the visitors to the town being attracted to visit.

Its opening hours will be 11am to 8pm daily.

One of the artists likely to benefit is town centre resident Eric Bobby. He is well known for his paintings of steam trains such as Tangmere arriving at Bognor station last September.

The art show is used by the Rotary Club to raise a significant amount of funds which its members use locally and internationally.

Space can always be found in the final days for a few more exhibits even though the show is bursting at the seams. Late entrants who would like to show their work should contact John Moore on 01243 261105.
