An academy in Hastings has appointed its new head teacher, according to a letter sent out to parents today (Friday, May 27).
Tracey Dohel will become the new head teacher at Ark Helenswood in September, taking over from current principal Lucy Monk.
Executive chairman of governors Rebecca Curtis and governors chairman Karen Chang said in the letter Ms Dohel joins the school from City of London Academy where she was vice-principal.
“It’s fantastic news that we have Ms Dohel on board – we feel that we have secured a strong leader to continue the great progress that Lucy Monk has made for Ark Helenswood,” the letter said.
“Ms Dohel and Mrs Monk will be working closely together during the course of Term 6 to ensure a smooth handover and secure plans for 2016-2017 and beyond.
“I know that Ms Dohel will be keen to meet with all students, parents/carers and members of the wider school community in due course.
“I know you will join me in wishing Ms Dohel a warm welcome.”
Ms Dohel’s previous roles include vice principal of Pimlico Academy, where she was part of the leadership team that moved the school from special measures to outstanding in just over two years.
