CREATIVE businesses in town are set to receive a boost with the help of a £2 million grant pot being set up by Hastings Borough Council.
The SUCCESS project (Southeast Urban Coast Creative Enterprise Support Scheme) was officially launched by Cllr Peter Chowney, the authority’s lead member for regeneration, in St Leonards last Wednesday (December 4).
Companies in the Hastings, Margate, and Clacton areas will be able to apply for grants of between £3,000 and £150,000, to support investment in new and growing creative businesses that will create new jobs from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund.
Cllr Chowney said: “Hastings has a strong foundation of small creative businesses, so I’m very pleased that we’ve been successful in our bid to the Regional Growth Fund for money to set up the SUCCESS grants programme.
“Businesses that will be able to take advantage of this fund include all design fields, art and crafts, performance, recording, radio, TV and film production, gaming, software design, galleries and venues, music, dance and theatre, and educational and community arts.
“This new fund will help existing businesses to grow, but it will also help attract new businesses to the town and I look forward to seeing many future successes.”
SUCCESS is administered by Hastings Borough Council and details on how to apply for grant support can be found by logging onto www.success-creative-fund.biz.
