New funding pot for local creative industry is open

Funding of up to £150,000 is being offered to creative businesses in 1066 Country.

A new body set up with Government money is offering small or medium-sized businesses with creative links cash to expand or shore up their organisation.

Sonny Symes, a Hastings-based recording artist and studio expert known as DJ Melinki, is one of those who has already received money from the South East Urban Coast Creative Scheme (SUCCESS).

Calling the fund “a dream come true”, Sonny said: “I couldn’t believe it was real when I first heard about it, as I had been searching for something like it last year.

“Every time I have needed advice or help on anything someone has been there straight away, it has made a huge difference to me growing my business, and to put it simply it has changed my life.”

The fund offers up to 50 per cent match funding to help the growth plans of businesses looking to develop their in house creative work. Funds between £3,000 and £150,000 are available.

The fund is only available for a short time, so applicants should move quickly.
