The 1066 Cycling Festival is a brand new free two day festival organised by Hastings Borough Council’s Active Hastings team, with support from Rother District Council.

Crowds gathered at the Stade Open Space on Saturday to enjoy a showcase of some fantastic cycling events, including displays by the 3SIXTY bicycle stunt team and a pro BMX demo by The Source.

There was more cycling fun at St Leonards during the evening with the Bottle Alley Bike Bomb races.

Cllr Dawn Poole, the council’s lead member for leisure said: ““It was great to see so many people attend this brand new event.

“The displays put on by 3SIXTY were amazing and the fast cycling sprint challenge at the Rollapoluza stand was brilliant.

“Our thanks must go to everyone involved in organising the event and of course everyone that took part and participated.”

Events continued at Bexhill on Sunday with free bike maintenance, BMX sessions and a culture trail ride, but these were dampebed by torrential rain during the morning.
