Netherfield

Mountfield Film Club's Next Presentation: This is another of those terrible reminders that let you know what is happening in our local community, well Mountfield anyway. As I indicated in last week's posting, residents in Netherfield have so far not taken advantage of the Mountfield Film Club's facilities. Ok it is not a 'Multiplex' but it is local and it means you get the benefit of perhaps seeing people you know, a drink and a bit of social interaction whilst looking at a big screen. Thirty two inches at home doesn't cut it so they tell me.

The Big Screen presentation this time is: “What we did on our holiday”. It is an hilarious comedy with Billy Connelly, David Tennant and Rosamund Pike. It has already been described as warm witty and delightful by the critics. The showing takes place on Saturday April 2nd. Doors open at the Mountfield Village Hall at 7.30pm. The cost for this evening of good wholesome entertainment is £5 per person on the door. All are welcome and that includes the children. The Mountfield Club will be open for pre and post film drinks and there will be complimentary refreshments available. Due to the quality of the releases shown these film nights are becoming very popular. The film starts at 8 o’clock so come early to make sure you and your friends get front row seats! Don’t delay, book today.

Netherfield Stores and Post Office: This is a reminder to all the residents in Netherfield and to the community at large who frequent the Post Office in Netherfield that it will be having some refurbishment from 22 March. It will be open throughout the period of the alterations. Once it has been completed all those new financial services such as manual banking (non-barcoded transactions) and Transcash, together with Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide International parcels will all be on offer to everybody. You can still pay by cheque if that is your preference for the services on offer. The new coffeee shop and it the goodies that it will provide will also be opening at around the same time as the work is finished. Longer opening hours will also give it that 21st Century feel, just like a smaller version of Harrods. The work is due to finish on 31 March, so not long to wait for something completely different. See you there!

Netherfield Mobile Library: The library is due again in Netherfield, outside the Village Stores on 5 April 2016, between 13.00 and 13.20. The problems with libraries across the country show that it is important to use it or lose it. You can ask Ella to recommend something different or she can guide you in the right direction if you have something specific in mind. There are books for everyone including the children. You can also browse the current crop of books on http://www.lovereading.co.uk/. So come along and make your choice and get lost in a book.
