THE NIGHTCLUB which used to be the stuff of local legend as The Crypt, is to re-open at the end of this month as West Exit.

The 440-capacity town centre venue, which has its entrance on Robertson Street, is to open its doors to the public on Saturday, March 30 following extensive refurbishment.

The plans by Father and Son team ASLIT Ltd to re-open we given the go-ahead after a licence was granted by Hastings Borough Council in December last year.

West Exit was granted a licence from 8am to 3am, seven days a week.

ASLIT has described West Exit as a multi-purpose entertainment venue, and details of the programme of events and images of the redeveloped interior are to follow shortly.

The project had received huge support from within the town and an online petition urging people to ‘vote yes’ to the new club received 630 signatures.

The Crypt closed in early 2011 as a result of financial difficulties, but hosted a number of high-profile acts in its heyday.
