Move to new venue a huge success

This year we had to move both the day and venue as we had outgrown our previous site.

The funds we raise at this and our other events goes to put on the annual torchlit procession, bonfire and fireworks in Ninfield, then monies raised on that night are shared between various charities, this year it will go to St. Michael’s Hospice, St. John’s Ambulance and a local Ninfield Village project.

At the Michaelmas Village Fayre we ran a pedigree and fun dog show which had many happy owners receiving lovely rosettes.

We had one of our highest number of entrance this year and we hope this will grow in the future as we now have a lot more space.

In the main arena those attending were entertained by Morris Dancers, Ninfield Bonfire Drummers, a display by the 1066 Birds of Prey and the always popular children’s tug of war.

There were many craft stalls as well as stalls selling plants, animal feeds and accessories, clothing and other items.

The tea room, bar and barbecue were, as always, popular once visitors had worked up an appetite trying archery, the coconut shy and other games, climbing into a fire engine and a police car.

Our venue this year was Headstart School, and we are very grateful to them for allowing us to use their field and school hall, they also laid out a farm trail and quiz which children and adults could enjoy.

They had various animals, including pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits,as well as machinery to enjoy. The school is a fantastic venue for this event and it was lovely that many of the staff and pupils were able to come along and enjoy the day as well as help out.

We had many good comments about the site, the glorious views and of course it was a nice sunny day!

Although we did not have as many people attend as we have in previous years, due in part to changing both the venue and the day, we raised about £1,600.

Thank you to all the stall holders for supporting us and to all the members of Ninfield Bonfire Society and especial thanks to Headstart School, without them this year the event would possible not have taken place.
