Men attacked in town centre

Two men were attacked in Hastings on Christmas Day.

The men, aged 20 and 24, from Bexhill, were assaulted in Robertson Street, as they were leaving the town centre after celebrating the birthday of the younger one.

The 20-year old ended up with a broken jaw and was treated at Eastbourne District General Hospital. The other victim was treated at the Conquest Hospital for facial injuries.

A 20-year-old man from Hastings was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm. He was interviewed and released on police bail until Saturday, February 25 while enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Paul Semple said: “Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call us via 101 quoting serial 0198 of 25/12. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
