Mayor signs pledge against nuclear weapons

THE Mayor of Hastings has signed an international pledge to promote peace and get rid of nuclear weapons.

Cllr Kim Forward and deputy mayor Cllr Alan Roberts signed the Mayors for Peace agreement at the town hall after the council’s cabinet agreed to join the campaign.

Cllr Forward said: “We are pleased to be able to join this campaign which exists to promote the total abolition of nuclear weapons and to pursue lasting peace in the world. This cannot be achieved without the cooperation and solidarity of all nations. We believe a world free of nuclear weapons, is a better one.”
