Man jailed after police uncovered £32,000 of cannabis in raid

A MAN has been jailed for a year after admitting running a cannabis factory.

James Drake, 30, of High Street, appeared at Lewes Crown Court, on July 12, where he pleaded guilty to production of a Class B drug.

During a police raid at a property in Markwick Terrace, St Leonards, officers discovered approximately 70 cannabis plants being cultivated, with an estimated street value in the region of £32,000.

Hastings district commander Chief Inspector Paul Phelps said: “This is yet another positive result for the community.

“We count on the goodwill of the local community to keep information coming in about possible drug factories and dealing on our streets.

“Your information may well be the piece we need to bring people to justice and disrupt dealers in our town.”

Anyone with information about drug dealing in their area should call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
