Man dies after major sea search in Brighton
More than 50 members of the emergency services were called out to the seafront at the Kings Road Arches at 11.40pm, from the RNLI, Shoreham and Newhaven Coastguard, Sussex Police, East Sussex Fire and Rescue, and the ambulance service.
Crews on the ground worked alongside those on the RNLI lifeboat and coastguard helicopter to search for a man in rough seas.

Hide AdThe man was pulled from the sea near the Palace Pier, but later died in hospital.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Emergency services were called to search for a man who had gone into the sea off the beach at Kings Road Arches, Brighton, at 11.40pm on Sunday (January 29).
“A major air and sea search co-ordinated by the UK Coastguard involving police, East Sussex Fire and Rescue, ambulance, Brighton and Shoreham RNLI lifeboats, the Coastguard helicopter and the mobile coastguard rescue units searched the foreshore and the sea east and west of Brighton Palace Pier.
“The man was pulled from the water by the coastguard rescue unit and paramedics at 1.38am and given CPR. He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton but was sadly pronounced dead.
“A woman who was with the man was checked over by ambulance paramedics after she also went into the water to help him, but managed to get out and raise the alarm.”
