SOUTH MALLING CHURCH: This Sunday's service is Morning Praise with Music by the band. There will be a Sunday Club activity for children. The service begins at 9.30am and will be followed by a picnic, hopefully outside in the church grounds, to which all are welcome. People should bring their own lunch and drinks will be provided. I have also been asked to flag up Saturday September 10 when there is a Bike Ride/Walking Tour of Sussex Churches to help fund the Sussex Historic Churches Trust. As a recent beneficiary of a four thousand pounds gift towards the roof improvement programme, South Malling Church, one of the three Trinity Churches in Lewes, is keen to encourage visitors from other parts of Sussex to see what has been done It will also be sending out its own supporters to raise money for their funds, which help to keep local church buildings properly maintained and well-cared for, despite the rising prices of what is increasingly specialised work. If you are asked to sponsor a walker or cyclist, for this event please be generous. Whether you are a Christian or not, our beautiful historic churches are icons of our countryside and its history and without them, country walks would be less interesting and informative, to say the least.
