There has been major disruption to train services between Hastings and Tonbridge this morning due to poor weather conditions (Friday, January 8).
There are icy conditions reported in the Wadhurst area which is causing trains to be delayed.
A landslip between Wadhurst and Stonegate last night (Thursday) has exacerbated problems with delays of up to 54 minutes.
All lines are open but train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
A Southeastern spokesman said: “Cold overnight weather conditions led to ice forming on our track at Wadhurst Tunnel and affecting the third rail.
“Unfortunately this led to a train stopping due to lack of power shortly after 7am.
“The train was removed at around 9am, but this caused disruption on the route.
“We apologise to passengers for the inconvenience this caused and would like to remind our customers that if their journey was delayed by 30 minutes or more they can claim compensation under the Delay Repay scheme.
“Details can be found on our website at www.southeasternrailway.co.uk.”
Disruption is expected until 12pm.
Replacement buses are in operation in both directions between Hastings and Tunbridge Wells.
