Magistrates Court round-up

The following are court results from Hastings Magistrates’ Court for June 9 and 10.

June 9:

Jack Saunders (aged 21), of Woodside, Ashford, Kent, was convicted, following a not guilty trial, of assault by beating. The assault took place at Cambridge Road, Hastings, on December 27 2014. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £400 in Crown Prosecution costs.

June 10:

Robin Garner (aged 41), of Mount Pleasant Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order made under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and imposed by magistrates in May 2013. The breach was said to have taken place at Rye in March. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 in costs.

John Gladwish (aged 39), of Bulverhythe Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. The court heard that he was almost double the legal limit (61 microgrammes of alcohol in breath) when stopped driving his black Audi car at East parade, Hastings on May 24. He was banned from driving for 17 months and fined £250.

Garry Hutchinson (aged 39), of Hughenden Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to assault. The offence took place at Hastings on May 4. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay the victim £100 compensation. He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85.

Gary Jones (aged 36), of Lower Street, Ninfield, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Vafira with excess alcohol at Catsfield Road, Battle, on May 24. The court heard he was three times over the legal limit (110 microgrammes of alcohol in breath). He was fined £1,500 and banned from driving for 25 months.

Robert Mansfield (aged 24), of Milward Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to criminal damage. The court heard he caused £70 of damage to a display cabinet at the True Crime Museum, White Rock, Hastings, on May 24. He was fined £50 and ordered to pay £70 compensation.

Martyn Weber (aged 28), of Middle Street, Hastings, pleaded guilty to causing £440 of damage to a window at Hastings on November 3 2014. He was fined £440 and ordered to pay £440 in compensation.

Lee Godfrey (aged 46), of Cloudesley Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to stealing items of meat, of an unknown value, from Marks and Spencers at Priory Meadow, Hastings, on May 25. Magistrates made a community order, with a drug rehabilitation requirement.

Jonathan Rainbow (aged 41), of Filsham Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to stealing two packs of meat from Co-Op, in Hastings, on May 25. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge.

Daniel Cannon (aged 21), of Manchester Road, Ninfield, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour at Hastings on May 9. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge.

Ashley Potts (aged 24) of Elderwood Close, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour at Hastings on May 9. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge.
