Magistrates’ Court round-up

The following are court results for the Observer area from Hastings Magistrates’ Court from October 20 to October 22.

October 20:

Mandy Brown (aged 56) of Coghurst Hall Holiday Park, Ivyhouse Lane, pleaded guilty to two charges of fraud that between December 3 2014 and April 10 2015 she used a bank card, in the name of another person, to gain £2,800 and £2,366. She was sentenced to prison for 24 weeks suspended for one year and ordered to complete a community order with 180 hours unpaid work. She was also ordered to pay compensation of £2,800.

Nicholas Stephenson (aged 68), of Barley Lane, Hastings, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating. The offences took place at Shearbarn Caravan Park on July 11. The court made a community order with an electronically tagged three month curfew between 8pm and 7am. He was also ordered to pay £200 compensation.

October 21:

Steven Roberts (aged 47), from Ian Close, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving a Jaguar car on Ian Close on October 3 while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 83 microgrammes - the legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £300 and banned from driving for 20 months.

Robert Kane (aged 54), of Hughenden Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle on New England Lane, at Battle, on July 24 while over the drink drive limit. He gave a blood alcohol reading of 214 milligrammes. The legal limit is 80mg. He was sent to prison for six weeks, suspended for 12 months and banned from driving for three years. The court also made a community order.

Rochelle Lee (aged 28), of Priory Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to stealing meat products worth £64.21, from Sainsburys, in St Leonards, on October 2. The court made a community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement.

October 22:

Marlon Ewen, aged 24, of Blackman Avenue, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at St Leonards on August 29. The court made a community order with a requirement to attend a relationship building course and fined him £100.
