LIT wood was put through the letterbox of a house in Linley Close in the early hours of this morning (July 10).
Police arrived at the property at around 2.50am after the woman occupant reported the incident.
Detective sergeant Tony Webb, leading the investigation, said: “Whoever is responsible for this incident has a total disregard for life. To put lit material through a letter box when most occupants are fast asleep is despicable.
“I would appeal to anyone who has information about who is responsible for this incident to please get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting serial 134 of 10/7 or alternatively leave an anonymous message with the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
