McLaren helps Vicky by opening doors, supermarket shopping, taking washing from the machine and much more.

The £2,000 donation from Bexhill on Sea Lions Club will go towards Vicky’s aftercare support, ensuring that the partnership continues to be successful and grow in years to come.

Vicky said: “I am so grateful to the Bexhill Lions, as McLaren makes such a difference to my life. Not only because of the tasks he does for me; helping pick up dropped items, lifting my legs into bed, taking off my jacket, jumpers and socks, but also the greater independence he provides when going out and about.

“He gives me confidence just by being there and is a brilliant ice-breaker when meeting new people.

“On top of all of that, he is a constant companion and has brought joy to my life in so many ways. Thank you ever so much for the support.”

Canine Partners is a registered charity that assists people with disabilities to enjoy a greater independence and quality of life through the provision of specially trained dogs, whose well-being is a key consideration.

The dogs are carefully matched to the applicant’s needs and lifestyle, no matter how challenging, and are trained to help with everyday tasks.
