KARATE kid Lewis Greathead has earned himself a black belt at the tender age of just nine.

The 4ft tall pint-size puncher of Burhill Way, St Leonards has earned his belt through the Sama Karate after school club.

In just four years he had gone from being a virtual novice to an accomplished young warrior and now aims to go all the way to the top.

Lewis, who attends St Leonards CE Primary school vowed to become a black belt by the age of 10 when he first started out aged just five.

Within two months of fighting he had passed his red belt showing enormous dedication and potential.

He attends Sama Karate club once a week and gets plenty of training in with his younger brother Curtis at home.

Curtis, who is just four, is fast following in the shadows of his older brother having already passed his red belt.

Pround mum Lisa said: “Lewis is very dedicated and very talented.

“He is pretty stocky for his age and is a natural at what he does.

“He wants to continue with the sport and wants to become a second Dan within another 10 years.

“I think he’s good enough to represent his country and if he continues progressing I don’t see any reason why he can’t.”
