Jazz legend Courtney set to headline Rye Arts Festival at Rye College this September

The news comes as the Festival committee launch a packed programme for this year.

The saxophonist and his band showcase his most recent album Europa.

Playing the bass clarinet, exploiting its deep, woody sound, Courtney’s music is inspired by his many travels through the Continent, picking up influences from eastern and southern Europe as well as Scandinavia, whilst remaining resolutely jazz. He is joined by Alec Dankworth on bass, Mark Mondesir on drums and pianist Zoe Rahman.

The 41st annual Rye Arts Festival runs from September 15 - 30 and includes an exciting mix of contemporary and classical music, literary talks, comedy, walks, theatre and children’s events at venues in and around Rye, many of which are free of charge.

Postal booking for the general public start on Monday 30th July and the Box Office at Phillips & Stubbs in Cinque Ports Street opens for bookings in person from 9.30am to 1.30pm Monday to Saturday from August 13.
