Twelve Hastings residents have joined forces to arrange and present a variety show to raise funds for the local Charity For Kids after one of the organiser’s daughters benefitted from the charity.
The show will be held at The Hastings Centre, The Ridge on Saturday November 21, 5-8pm and is called Showtime.
The two main organisers of the event, Shaun and Ann-Marie Finlay say there is a very special reason for the fundraiser.
“The reason we have chosen Charity For Kids is because we have a little girl, Summer, who is close to all our hearts and has been helped by Charity for Kids.”
Three year old Summer was born with Spina bifida which left her paralysed from the chest down. She also has hydrocephalus controlled by a shunt but her dad says she is still very much full of life.
“Despite everything, Summer is a very happy little girl who doesn’t let her disability get in her way, “ he said.
“Charity For Kids helped Summer by raising the money to purchase a wheelchair and a specialist trike for her.
“Getting these items goes a long way to helping Summer live a normal life.
“We have all seen how much of a difference this has made to Summer and want to give back to the charity and help them to help someone else.
“As you can imagine all this equipment doesn’t come cheap so if we can help raise money we know it will be greatly received.”
The venue for the variety show (The Hastings Centre) seats around 400-500 people and Shaun says he hopes it will be packed to the rafters, adding: “We have lots of local talents performing in the show, from Street Dance Crews to Cheerleaders and Singers. ”We hope that people will come along to the show and help us raise money for this amazing Charity.”
Tickets for the show cost £5 in advance (£10 on the door) and are available via www.facebook.com/showtimecfk
