THE Association of Carers is to host an information and advice afternoon at the Isabel Blackman Centre, in Winding Street.
The Carers Rights Day event will take place next Friday (November 30), from 2pm to 4pm.
Local people who provide unpaid care for a spouse, partner, family member or friend are invited to drop in to the Isabel Blackman Centre to access information and advice.
As well as the Association of Carers, representatives from local organisations, Lifeline and In Touch will be available to explain how technology and adaptations around the home can help make carers’ lives easier and safer and provide information about transport, claiming benefits and how to get practical support.
At a time of rising living costs, salary freezes and job losses families affected by illness and disabilities are often the hardest hit.
In such situations it is important for carers to know their rights and how to access the support they are entitled to.
For more information, directions, or assistance with getting to the event call Sarah Corrie on 01424 722 309.
