In today's County Times: 'School to cut jobs as funding crisis worsens'

A primary school in the Horsham district will be forced to axe several teaching assistants as it does not have the money to keep them on.

In today’s County Times, shop windows shook and two people were injured in a gas explosion in Horsham town centre, a food and drink retailer has been fined £20,000 for littering, plans for a new football ground at Hop Oast are being backed by a town watchdog, a national clothing retailer is set to open a new store in the town centre this spring and a new district commander has been appointed for the Horsham and Worthing policing district.

Also in this week’s paper, Horsham’s MP is set to start a popular village half marathon - and then take part, a popular display at Horsham’s Piazza Italia has been cancelled, a green campaigning family has been labelled as the ‘most eco-friendly family in Britain’, work has begun to improve part of the A24 plus, firefighters put on a dazzling display, raising hundreds of pounds by car-cleaning.

In the South Downs edition, residents in Steyning are struggling to leave their homes due to ‘horrendous’ potholes, plans to concentrate flightpaths over the South Downs have been condemned, hoardings put up by developers around a controversial site in Henfield have been attacked by vandals and residents at a care home in Upper Beeding were delighted after joining wedding celebrations for the home’s owner.

In sport, Horsham manager Dominic Di Paola is expecting the Ryman League relegation battle to go down to the wire - but is delighted to be nowhere near it. We also have the latest cricket, hockey and rugby news.
