Hurrah it's Fairtrade Fortnight

FAIRTRADE Fortnight begins on Monday and it's a chance for Bexhill to show support for ethical trading.

Events include activities for young and old and it is hoped the community will embrace the new challenge of making Fairtrade bunting to take part in a nationwide world record attempt.

Shoppers are urged to look out for Fairtrade goods to buy, particularly cotton.

Campaigner Jack Doherty said: “Bexhill Fairtrade Town will be busy in schools, churches, cafes, businesses, and organisations making and writing on bunting pieces. This is to show their support for fair deals and no exploitation of the poorest workers in the developing world who are providing us with so many enjoyable life-giving products.”

There will be activites in Bexhill schools throughout the fortnight, including an information stall at Bexhill High, refreshments and competitions.

• Saturday March 5 - information stall and chance to sample fairtrade goodies outside Bexhill Library from 10.30am.

• Wednesday March 9 - information stand and bunting colouring at Bexhill Library from 10-5pm.
