Hospital for wildlife still on the brink

BRENT Lodge Wildlife Hospital is still in danger of closing despite an early rush of donations following their appeal for help.

Mountains of mail have arrived at the hospital carrying messages of support and generous donations, in some cases 1,000 at a time, but their ordeal is still far from over.

Meetings last weekend for volunteers and people with fundraising ideas to come forward saw around 30 people turn up to share their experience.

Founder Dennis Fenter said: 'I find it staggering that a little wildlife hospital that I started in my back garden 35 years ago has grown to mean so much to so many people.

'Things have changed, lots of people are ringing up and offering their help, people have been sending in money, but we are still in need of a lot of help. I am cautiously optimistic.

'We need money to continuously keep coming in so we can keep going for years rather than weeks.'
