St Michael’s Hospice has launched an appeal to raise funds to ensure all patients have high quality, pressure relieving mattresses, enabling higher levels of comfort and pain relief.
Jenny Wratten, matron at the St Leonards charity, said: “We constantly endeavour to stay up to date with the very latest advances in clinical technology in a bid to provide the very best for all of our patients. This is an urgent appeal to all our wonderful hospice supporters, as many of our current mattresses are fast approaching a point where they are no longer suitable. We have already raised £10,000 towards our £27,000 goal and we would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who has donated to this important cause so far.”
The hospice is looking to buy 18 specialist Oska Cirrus mattresses after trialling one last year. These are non-powered air mattress systems with self-adjusting technology. There are many benefits of the new mattresses but each costs £1,500. The hospice would be incredibly grateful to any supporters for a donation towards the fund, no matter how great or small.
