Mark Daly, chairman of the Horsham District Live Music Alliance that runs the event, said it was ‘successful’ but admitted he had doubts that the competition’s ‘heyday’ would return.

The annual music event has been running in the town for about 20 years.

However, Mark could not confirm that it would go ahead next year.

He said: “I thought it was quite successful - I am very pleased.

“I don’t think we will ever see the heyday of five or so years ago again, and now it is in a bit of a trough.

“Hopefully there will be the bands to keep it going - but if [there are not], obviously we will call it a day.”

The winners of Battle of the Bands were Ship of Gold, with Phrase Mob and Troubled Minds rounding out the top three.
