THE WINNER of the Ingrid Pitt Queen of Horror Award will be in for a trip of a lifetime to New York.

The Ingrid Pitt Queen of Horror Festival to take place in the Old Town from October 26 to 28, is a memorial to the hammer horror actress.

Hastings’ newly crowned Queen of Horror has been invited by American film producer, Kevin Michaels, to take part in the Ingrid Pitt Queen of Horror Film Festival in New York City on Holocaust Remembrance Day, 2013.

Michaels’s animated film, Ingrid Pitt: Beyond the Forest, depicts the story of Ingrid as a child survivor of the Holocaust during the Second World War.

He said: “This is a great opportunity to crown a new Queen of Horror embodying the dignity of Ingrid Pitt herself but not in any way replacing her.

“It is more than a tribute, it represents the next generation. Ingrid was always supportive of creative people coming up and gave them a chance.”

The competition is now open for entries and details of this and the festival programme can be found on www.queenofhorror.co.uk.

The festival is also to include a short story competition with bestselling chiller writer, James Herbert, presenting the awards, and a showing of films entered for the Ingrid Film Awards, presented by film International film director, Robert Young.

Professional make-up artist Satinder Chumber, who has worked on films from Hollywood blockbusters to independents, will be giving demonstrations on how to apply SFX make-up.
