A CHURCH in St Leonards has marked its Golden Jubilee.

Holy Redeemer Church, in Upper Church Road, Hollington, hosted a celebration on Sunday, June 24.

A Mass was held by the Right Reverend Kieran Thomas Conry, Bishop of Arundel and Brighton, with several co-celebrants – including the Dean of St Leonards-on-Sea the Rev Paul Clarke, the current Parish Priest, Father Ian Byrnes, Father William Bradley, a previous parish priest, and other attending priests and friars who have been connected with the parish in the past.

The Mayor, Councillor Alan Roberts, and council leader Jeremy Birch also came.

Following the Mass, with hymns and part of the Liturgy being sung by the choir, and music provided by the Youth Group, everyone was invited to attend a finger buffet in the parish hall and adjoining marquee.

Jeanne Lord, spokesman for the church, said: “A continuous slide show depicting many memorable photographs from over the years proved a great success, as did the Golden Jubilee commemoration booklet that had been created for the occasion. We look forward to the continued growth in our parish community and to assisting the wider community at large.”
