COUNTRY PARK CELEBRATIONS: Hellingly Parish Council will be holding a short event to celebrate the transfer of Hellingly Country Park to the Parish Council. A tree will be planted to commemorate the occasion. The planting of the tree will take place at noon on Saturday August 20. Members of the public are welcome to attend. Anyone driving to the event should park in the NHS car park at the top of The Drive, parking is not available in the residential roads.

HELLINGLY CHURCH: Throughout the Festival of Transport the church is running a cakes stall. The Sunday August 28, 11am worship service will be held in the field at the event. Regular services are Sundays 8am Holy Communion, 10.45am Holy Communion or Family Service on fourth Sunday, Thursdays 9.30am BCP Holy Communion.

MACBYRD OUTDOOR THEATRE: At Michelham Priory on Sunday, a brand new comedy thriller from The Rudes. It’s 1940 in a sleepy Sussex village. George, a retired mechanic, receives a letter from the War Office. Magpies gather, hopping on their twiggy legs. ‘What’s this?’ they cackle. Momentous changes are afoot. While above, amidst comic absurdity, a dark and menacing intrigue simmers among the birds. Watch out for Inspector Seed, a pigeon. Tickets available online at www.therudemechanicaltheatre.co.uk.
