A GROUP of students from Helenswood were invited to perform dancing routines at the opening of the Anne Frank exhibition.

The Helenswood/Parkwood String Ensemble gave energetic and polished performances of Holst’s St Paul’s Suite and excerpts from Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite at Sussex Coast College Hastings.

The ensemble was joined by Year 10 GCSE dance students who did a piece entitled ‘I am fine’.

The dance captured the moving emotions of the Holocaust and was excellently received.

Sue Wilson, Hastings and St Leonards Excellence Cluster’s associate leader, said: “I would like to thank the Helenswood students for providing such lovely background music and dance.”

The ensemble has been busy recently and also submitted a recording of Sleepy Lagoon (aka the Desert Island Discs signature tune.) for the BBC Radio 3 Light Fantastic competition.

It will be playing again at the school fete on Saturday, July 16.
