Norovirus shuts ward

A WHOLE ward was closed at the Conquest Hospital for almost a week after an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug, norovirus.

Two people on Tressell ward contracted the illness and the ward, which has 28 beds, was closed to new admissions last Thursday (December 8).

It reopened on Wednesday night after being deep cleaned and patients examined for signs of the virus.

A spokesman for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs the Conquest on The Ridge, said there were two confirmed cases of norovirus on Tressell ward, which looks after people with respiratory illnesses.
