Community clinics to treat diabetes locally

DIABETICS can now be treated in their local GP surgery in a scheme that sees consultants visiting new community clinics.

Patients requiring routine care, who would have previously gone to The Conquest, can now be treated at either Harold Road Surgery, Shankill Surgery or Roebuck Surgery.

Consultants plan to eventually extend the clinics, which will be held every six weeks, to more surgeries across Hastings and St Leonards.

Dr Umesh Dashora, one of the scheme’s founders, said: “Some patients do not like going to hospital and lose out on their treatment as a result so it also allows us to see those patients in a place that they may feel more comfortable.”
