Hastings Youth Council raised concerns over cut to childrens’ services at their latest meeting.

East Sussex County Council’s children’s services director Stuart Gallimore and Cllr Slyvia Tidy said the youth members were worried about the £14million savings needed in that department.

They said the members were concerned about the impact it will have on the community at the meeting on Thursday, January 14.

Mr Gallimore and Cllr Tidy came to talk about the county council’s consultation on the 2016/17 budget, as did Hastings Borough Council deputy leader Kim Forward.

“I was very pleased to have been invited by the youth council to their meeting to discuss the council’s 2016/17 budget consultation and the impact that this budget will have on services the council provide,” Cllr Forward said.

“They have all been invited to put forward their comments on the proposals by February 12, and together with all other comments received they will be reported to our budget cabinet on February 15, with the final decision on the 2016/17 budget being made by full council on February 24.”
