Hastings Tourist Information Centre has reopened to the public following a £45,000 makeover.

It took four weeks to complete the work at the centre at Aquila House, which is now set to provide a full service to both residents and visitors to Hastings.

With more and more people opting to stay at home for their holidays, the town’s Tourist Information Centre is gearing up for the busy summer season ahead.

Cllr Dawn Poole, Hastings Borough Council’s lead member for regeneration explained: “We are delighted with the newly completed works at the Tourist Information Centre.

“It’s now modern, light and airy allowing us to present local attractions and our town to the best advantage.

“It’s vital that we provide this specialist service to visitors and our residents.

“Tourism contributes over £260m to the Hastings economy and supports over 5,400 jobs here in Hastings.

“The all-new dedicated team are on hand daily to provide a wide range of information and advice on everything up to and including attractions, coach tours and bus tickets, Southern Day Save train tickets, theatre and event tickets, National Express Coach bookings, souvenirs and gifts.

“The team can also assist with parking permits and pink recycling sacks.”

The most recent Tourism South East data shows that in 2014, 434,000 staying trips were spent in Hastings, up 1.6 per cent on 2013.

In total, visitors staying in Hastings spent more than £95m on their visits to the town.

The Hastings Tourist Information Centre is open every Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm and from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Saturdays and 10.30am and 4pm on Sundays.
